After planting on time, weeding on time and fertilization I have seen my BT crop producing many bolls like I have never seen before as a cotton farmer. And I have never sprayed any chemical for bollworm control and yet my crop has some plants with well over 45 bolls per plant and I have started harvesting!
I planted the crop in April and I am looking after it properly and even giving it supplementary irrigation to make it realise its full potential and am so happy so far with its development.
BT cotton hybrids are performing better than the varieties we used to grow and very early maturing
The BT hybrids are very unlike the old varieties, they are not very vegetative but produce a lot of flowers, squares and bolls, I am happy with BT cotton hybrids from Mahyco.
The BT hybrids has really performed well even in this very dry season. Even a small plant can be carrying over 15 bolls. I check my crop for pests every week and have found no need to spray for bollworms because they are not there.
I have planted 5gm Mahyco Hybrid Chili MIHP1310 and got 60Kg dried chili during the first harvest. I am expecting another 50kg during the second harvest. I am preparing to buy seed for 1 acre. I have also done a trial for Hybrid Tomato MITO1037 and have already established 1 acre of MITO1037.
I have purchased 19200 plants for Mahyco hybrid cabbage seedlings MICB1951. The cabbage has performed well in our area as it is early maturity which I harvested early that gave chance to plant other crop. The head size is medium which is required by market in Nakuru as well as in Baringo dry areas
I planted MAHYCO hybrid watermelon Super Champion for trial. The variety is good as it grows fast and the vigour is also very good. The melon fruit size is good and very sweet as compared to what I have been using. I have already ordered 3kg of seed for 6 acres.
I have successfully grown MHC2 hybrid rice because this is a high yielding. In addition, the rice has high quality grains and excellent taste. It has shown excellent disease tolerance variety that brings economic efficiency to me and many other farmers in the Mekong Delta.
